My Mommy Gone #15

Every day another memory unveils its mystery

"You must be worried sick,"

says radio man to poet on her teenager

at college. I remember your

angry face in my dorm room

moments before your departure

when i mutter,"you'll be gone soon"

to your unwanted suggestions, questions

and now, lifetimes after your directions,

fire, and flash extinguished, I shiver,

realizing it was love's flame

when you burnt me.
