SEPT 11: ARTISTS RESPOND

Paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, fiberart, poetry, by 40 Ithaca-area artists were included in this sharing of responses to the September 11 attacks and their aftermath at the Community School of Music and Arts, 330 East State Street, Ithaca, NY 14850.
The exhibit opened Friday, April 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. with performances by the Finger Lakes Women's Chorale and the Ithaca Trumpet Crew.
Two of my works, "The Fires This Time" (painting) and "Another Way" (sculpture) were included. The many visions and voices were both heart wrenching and healing.

I read at the Peaceful Gathering Coffeehouse, on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 in Corning, NY as a part of the annual DIALOGUE THROUGH POETRY WEEK and UNESCO's WORLD POETRY DAY
held the week of 17, March 2002. Over 200 poetry readings in 150 cities were held worldwide to discuss "can poetry help create a culture of peace and non-violence in the world?"

I read at the Tombstone Cafe in Waverly, NY, on Friday, February 2, for Black History Month
in Waverly, New York, (318 Broad St., between exits 60 and 61 Route 17/I-86). The program featured performances by husband and wife team Jasper and Sharon McGruder from NYC, presenting an evening of theater and song. They've performed at the Nuyorican, LaMama, and at the Edinburgh Scotland Fringe Festival.

I was an artist-in-residence at Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY, September 17 - October 6, 2001.

My work was included in "Beans and Rice," an exhibit at the Hamilton Hills Art Center, Inc. in Schenectady, NY, September 9 thru November. More info here.

2000

2000 started with the Millenium Woman Art Show for the Women's Center of the Southern Tier.

My sculptural debutwas at STUDIO2STUDIO, April 27 to May 27, 2000, CoolArts@The Gallery. A wonderful experience in a beautiful gallery with excellent lighting. Then I finished the year with a flourish at the Second Annual Holiday Bead Bash, exhibition and sale at Whitehouse Books, Dec.2-30, 2000 and the show and sale at The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass, December 7 to 13.

A recent class in 3-D paper sculpture was as inspiring as my class last century in vacuum forming.
